Hope you enjoy my little bits of this and that. :) I can't promise they'll always be interesting. :)

Here is hoping you have a Wonderful Easter Sunday, JU. Enjoy your church services, good luck with the egg hunting, and don't eat toooo much Easter candy. And for those not celebrating Easter, hope your Sunday is just as enjoyable.

Jesus sure is popular with the media these days. First, I see a report about Jesus Papers author (and Holy Blood, Holy Grail author) Michael Baigent and his theory that Jesus did not die on the cross. Then I learn about scientists saying that Jesus may not have walked on water, but instead may have been walking on a hard-to-see sheet of ice beneath the Sea of Galilee. Finally, I catch a preview tonight of the National Geographic special on the Book of Judas--coptic writings found that may ...

About a year ago, I wrote a blog about a weird commercial that BK had made (the one featuring Darius Rucker). It was so psychedelic and made even stranger by the creepy Burger King guy himself. Just when I had convinced myself that those commercials (starring the Burger King) were the weirdest I have ever seen, along comes BK's Big Bucking Chicken.... Have you seen this crazy thing on TV? The scenario is a mini rodeo featuring a huge chicken (or chickens) being ridden by a ummm......

I am somewhat divided about this immigration reform. I understand the government's economic concerns about illegal immigrants and their concern for national security. I do believe that immigrants who want to live here should do what they need to do to stay here legally. But I also believe that they come up here for opportunity and a better life, just like many of our ancestors did...and they work their asses off here in laborious jobs that many Americans turn their noses up to (but I'm not...

I've been on and off JoeUser lately (more off than on), and when I go even two or three days without browsing around, I feel like I've missed something. Maybe I've missed an important announcement (I do know of TW's upcoming bundle of joy, though!) , or lost out on a really good article...or missed some spontanous goings on. Yes, I guess I could backtrack, but I haven't had much opportunity to. Ah, well...I doubt I'm the only one who goes through the "I don't have time/ I'm too busy / I ...

For a few weeks now, I have been going to the American Idol forums (more like message boards I guess) to discuss the show (I love discussing music and the singers’ skills and lack of skills)...But, oh my gosh, it is CHAOS there! I’m not just talking about weird fanatics of the show who lurk there ...I’m actually talking about the masses and masses of people that are part of those forums! There can be anywhere from 40,000 to 200,000 people online at the same time ...it’s crazy. And don’...

I am slowly noticing that I’m picking up my guy’s mannerisms. That certain way he says “What the hell...”, well, I am saying it in exactly the same tone now. And the way he gets opinionated about idiot drivers, well, I find myself getting irate at them in the same way. He’ll make up weird names for people...For example, if he hears a woman being loud, he’ll say something like, “Dang, loudness, quiet down.” Or if he sees a person out in the street wearing a big coat on a not so cold day...

So this is supposed to be a day when we honor the wonderful men that have led our nation...and I do. But I could not pass up this opportunity to share a list of the Ten Worst Presidential Blunders (according to the University of Louisville's McConnell Center): I tried to find a link, but no such luck, so here it is: Number 10: Clinton’s scandal with Monica Lewinsky (I never looked at a navy dress the same way again). Number 9: Ronald Reagan and the Iran Contra Affair--th...

The media needs to get over this Cheney shooting already....they act as if there is some crazy conspiracy behind the whole thing-like maybe his pal caught him bargaining for oil out in the woods, so the Veep had to but a bullet in him (or some weirdo story like that)... I'm not even a big fan of the man, but cut him some slack....it was an Accident. Period.

I made heart shaped cookies for my family for Valentine’s Day....yes, yes, I know it’s not a big deal to many on here (some of you have made that very clear from what I've read )...but heck, I like it. It’s not like I went out and bought everyone Godiva chocolates and diamond earrings...just some nice homemade baked goods. Also, I have received several thoughtful gifts from my students...some flowers, a teddy bear, some cute Valentine cards...it’s sweet that they thought of me. I g...

My boyfriend asked me the other day how I would like to raise our kids (that is, when we have some) religion-wise.I told him that since I’m Catholic, it’s natural that I’d want to introduce them to Catholicism. I’m going to be honest here and say that I would love for them to form a love of God. But I’d also want them to be able to have their own opinions, and not be ashamed to question things (for I question things about my own religion myself). I really wouldn’t want to force them towar...

My boyfriend’s longtime favorite team is vying for the Super Bowl trophy tomorrow, and since it’s going to be extra special for him, we decided to make a small bowl celebration of our very own--opting not to go to go out to any pigskin parties. On the menu we have: Chili, potato salad, (which he will make), mini sausages, deviled eggs, sandwiches, and Steelers Brownies (just a little something I wanted to make in honor of his team). We hope to enjoy the game, enjoy the commercials, an...

Dunno if this test had been done here before...found it while surfing, and it sounded like fun. Here are my results: Which Muppets Character matches your personality? Swedish Chef! You scored 55 Mood and 74 Energy! You are happy and energetic. People just love being around you and your infectious energy. You're good at entertaining people without even trying, and you make a mean lutefiske. My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people...

Glory Road came out this weekend. It is about Don Haskins and the 1966 Texas Western College Miners Basketball Team (now known as UTEP). Haskins made history by starting five black players against Kentucky’s all white line-up during an NCAA Championship game, something that had never been done before. It came during a time when racial discrimination was very high, at a time when young black men didn’t have many opportunities... and it made many proud that these boys, who often experienced ...
