Hope you enjoy my little bits of this and that. :) I can't promise they'll always be interesting. :)

I've been seeing this ad above JoeUser's homepage for a while now...lol.  Haven't clicked on the link to find out he he gets the free money, though.   And he's looking so cool with that "Look at all my money" pose...very impressive, Chedda.

I read about this site in a magazine article yesterday: http://freerice.com/ For every word you match with its definition, the UN World Food program donates 20 grains of rice to countries in need.  So 20 grains isn't very much, but if you get very into it, your vocabulary prowess will help the program donate a decent amount.  There is really no "end" to the game, so you can decide when to stop.  Chris and I played for around 30 minutes and ended up with about 8,000...

There are "playground" arsonists on the loose in our town. It all started several months back, with these morons setting two or three eastside schoolyard play areas on fire. When I heard the news during that time, it upset and annoyed me a bit. I mean, out of everything they can set afire, why a kids' play area? Those feelings have now gone from being a "bit" upset to extremely pissed. Just a few days ago, these idiots targeted the school I work at and tried to set one of our new p...

I think everyone has an embarassing piece of clothing...maybe that lime green sweater you got as a gift two year ago...or those zipper parachute pants from the 80s...or maybe just a funky piece of clothing you wouldn't wear in front of anyone. Well, I don't know if mine count as "embarassing" pieces of clothing, but I do own some things that I wouldn't wear in front of too many people. The first thing are my light blue sweatpants...they don't sound out of the ordinary except that on t...

This is the "Winter" craft I have chosen for my students to do for their parents/guardians this year (we'll be doing it on Monday): I have modified some of the steps and materials, such as substituting polyester batting with cotton balls, adding mini ornaments (such as little gift boxes, candy canes, and gingerbread men) and opting not to use a mirror as a base. Besides making a winter scene in the cup, they will also be gluing a school picture of themselves in the middle. It...

Today was the First day of School for me. To tell you the truth, my summer vacation flew by, but hey, at least I got some needed rest. One change this year is that I am now the Social Studies teacher (replacing the old S.S teacher that moved to another grade level). Frankly, I am looking forward to it. 5th Grade focuses on U.S History, so I am going to enjoy teaching U.S Geography, Goverment, History, Economics, Current Events, and Citizenship. I told the kids that it may not be the mo...

What Signs of the Times do you see out there in our World? With Technology advancing with every blink of the eye, there are probably so many. The idea for this article first came to my mind a few months ago, when I had to administer a standardized test to my students. Beginning this year, and in accordance with a new state school law, we were required to have students sign a form saying that they had “no media devices on their person” so as not to cheat. It just struck me how weird...

I got a slurpee from 7-11 today on the house...in honor of their "birthday". According to the cup, they've been around almost 80 years...wow.So maybe I shouldn't be too excited about this...only 7.11 ounces of the sweet slush was offered....but ahhhh...hits the spot on such a hot day. Maybe you can stop by and get yours, too.

My boyfriend’s longtime favorite team is vying for the Super Bowl trophy tomorrow, and since it’s going to be extra special for him, we decided to make a small bowl celebration of our very own--opting not to go to go out to any pigskin parties. On the menu we have: Chili, potato salad, (which he will make), mini sausages, deviled eggs, sandwiches, and Steelers Brownies (just a little something I wanted to make in honor of his team). We hope to enjoy the game, enjoy the commercials, an...

Dunno if this test had been done here before...found it while surfing, and it sounded like fun. Here are my results: Which Muppets Character matches your personality? Swedish Chef! You scored 55 Mood and 74 Energy! You are happy and energetic. People just love being around you and your infectious energy. You're good at entertaining people without even trying, and you make a mean lutefiske. My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people...

I have not one, not two, but three paper cuts (more like slashes) on my hands...My initial explanation would be that I was just in a hurry, or overeager to get paperwork together....but I guess klutziness is also a contributing factor. How can such a wimpy cut sting so much, anyway? And in other Klutzy Rose news, I slipped off the bottom stair and hurt my knee (because I wasn’t seeing where I was going). Oh, and it's my Mom's birthday today...she's _____ years old....I won't giv...

My boyfriend and I have not Celebrated Christmas with each other yet... gifts still lay under the tinseled tree perfectly wrapped, bows and ribbons intact. We are STILL in anticipation as to what we got each other... The Reason? Well...I think it’s more than one... First off, we did not get to finish shopping for each other...yes, even though we have a few gifts for one another, we did not get to wrap up (bad pun) our Christmas shopping. Instead of having our minds on Christmas all m...

Very interesteing Quiz that interprets your thoughts on Life and the World...thought I'd share it. You scored as Idealist . Idealism centers around the belief that we are moving towards something greater. An odd mix of evolutionist and spiritualist, you see the divine within ourselves, waiting to emerge over time. Many religious traditions express how the divine spirit lost its identity, thus creating our world of turmoil, but in time it will find itself and all things will again b...

Recently at our school’s Professional Development Training, some teachers were recognized for their years of service to our school district. Some received 30 year and 25 year pins, or 5, 10, and 15 year certificates. I was honored with completing Five years of Teaching (as of May of this year). Five years already...wow...I am no longer a rookie, but a bona fide, experienced teacher. Doesn’t seem that long since I graduated from the university. This gets me to think back on many things:...
