(Just a little nod to Hall & Oates there, in case you didn't know...and the fact that I haven't written anything since late April) ~*~Speaking of music, I had students doing projects on a novel they were reading. One of the projects they could choose to do was to make a CD cover based on the story...and choose songs that connected with the story. Many chose the doo wop songs that had to do with the novel...and of course, you had students who chose today's popular songs.&n...
I've been replying to a few JU articles tonight, and after I type up my response and press send, the page does not show my reply. What in theee heck is going on.
I read a few articles today about a columnist in NYC (Lenore Skenazy) who allowed her 4th grader son to take a subway by himself from an Upper Eastside store back to their Manhattan home. She gave him a Metrocard, A Map, $20, some change in quarters, and told him "I'll see you at home." The reasoning behind this was that the son wanted to experience independence, so she allowed him to have this experience (he successfully made it home, btw). Needless to s...

Chris and I just came back from a road trip to southern N.M. Among the places we visited were the lovely Mountains of Ruidoso (where we window shopped, took pics, and gambled just a teeny tiny bit) and the stunning White Sands near Alamogordo, NM (where we had fun in the sand and sun). It was a lovely trip...and such a cool way to spend some of my Spring Break. Also, we couldn't have asked for better weather . These are some pics We took. Here is on...
I read about this site in a magazine article yesterday: http://freerice.com/ For every word you match with its definition, the UN World Food program donates 20 grains of rice to countries in need. So 20 grains isn't very much, but if you get very into it, your vocabulary prowess will help the program donate a decent amount. There is really no "end" to the game, so you can decide when to stop. Chris and I played for around 30 minutes and ended up with about 8,000...
Hope everyone has a Wonderful Easter Today. And if you don't celebrate Easter, have a Happy Sunday.
Give me a 5 Sentence Update on Your Life, fellow JoeUsers. Why am I asking for 5 sentences? Well, I have been suffering from short attention span-itis lately, so 5 works for me...lol. Here are mine: I have been having some health troubles. It might be GERD or gastritis...who the hell knows (might need to see a doc again). I now have an elliptical trainer that's up and running! The question now is if I will use it regularly. I have a good c...
Here are pics I took of some Calla Lillies I had in my living room. They are all wilted up now.

Lately, Chris (udigit) has been approaching me randomly with a blank stare on his face. He stands there, takes a coin out of his pocket, and with his deepest, creepiest voice repeats to me over and over, "Call It...just Call It", "Call It". I try to get him out of the mode, but he doesn't budge, which then causes me to either crack up or freak out...lol. This crazy but cool No Country for Old Men-Javier Bardem imitation got me to thinking about Oscar night tomorrow (which I...
I was very thrilled to see Lost return to the airwaves. It is one of my favorite shows. I know some ppl have jumped off the Lost boat ( I do understand why...since it was dragging for a while there), but I am determined to see it to its end. Already the little twists and turns of the season premiere have me wondering and theorizing. If you've jumped off the boat, maybe you'll give the show a chance again. I can say with confidence that its much more captivating and interesting t...
