I am slowly noticing that I’m picking up my guy’s mannerisms. That certain way he says “What the hell...”, well, I am saying it in exactly the same tone now. And the way he gets opinionated about idiot drivers, well, I find myself getting irate at them in the same way. He’ll make up weird names for people...For example, if he hears a woman being loud, he’ll say something like, “Dang, loudness, quiet down.” Or if he sees a person out in the street wearing a big coat on a not so cold day...

I always ask myself, ‘what do I want this new year to bring me?’ But it made me think...wouldn’t it make more sense to ask what I would bring to this New Year? I mean, I cannot just sit back and expect things to happen for me. So this is what I want to bring to 2006: A person who will take her health more seriously. A person who will try to keep ties intact...I was bad at keeping in touch this past year. Someone who will speak up more...who will express ideas and opinions more ...

Today is World AIDS day, a day set aside for AIDS awareness. I’m not going to state statistics about AIDS, or give a lecture about it, since I am sure most of us are well educated on it. I’d simply like to state my support for those who have been affected by this disease, namely my aunt, who is currently battling AIDS, and also for our fellow JUser, Phoenixboi, who is HIV positive (I hope you don’t mind me mentioning your name). I also stand behind those who tirelessly continue to search...

Laughter. The best alternative medicine out there today has soothed and invigorated my body and soul these past few days. Here I was in a bad condition this past week..crying and worrying and wondering when financial and personal matters will get better...questioning whether prescriptions are really helping my stomach ailments and hating the side effects they’ve been giving me....taking my bad situation out on people I love the most... and thinking NOTHING will help me feel better... ...

Grandpa, you served your country well during World War II. Even though you were from Mexico, you fought for this country as if it were always your own.You shared stories about your travels abroad and spoke of how you almost lost your hearing when a bullet whizzed by your ear during battle. You carried your love of music to the army by joining the Army band. You came back home to Grandma safe and sound and ready to meet your first son, who was born while you were away at war. You instilled i...

I was cleaning out some stuff in my closet when I came upon an audio cassette that belonged to my sister (even after over a year of both of us having left home, I am still finding some of her stuff in mine). This tape was dedicated to her from a guy she used to go with in high school. It read something along the lines of “I thought of you when I put these songs together. Hope you like it and know how special you are to me.” Even though it sounded corny, I still thought it was sweet. I did...

Looks like anonymous poster has struck again tonight...bumping up articles of long ago. I don't know what the purpose of this is, but it's getting pretty annoying... Will pushing our mental "Ignore" button make him/ her go away? Dunno....it hasn't worked so far. Ah well...what a kook.

I attended a “Goodbye and Good Luck” dinner tonight for my cousin Eileen, who will be leaving for Army basic training tomorrow. Eileen is 18. She is so young, so it’s natural that the family worries about her making such a huge decision. She herself is nervous and sad about this departure, but she also looks forward to the opportunities that it can give her in life. I will miss Eileen...she is one of the cousins I am most close to, for she and my sister basically grew up together. She was...

Nostalgia can be a beautiful thing. It allows you to go back in time and mentally re-live moments in your life. It brings smiles and laughter to your lips. It floods you with all sorts of good feelings. However, sometimes nostalgia can hurt me. I was playing some music last night...and it began to remind me of my family. My mood started out with smiles...but it soon turned sad, really sad. The music I was playing especially reminded me of my sister. When she was younger (from child...

My sunshine, my Digitthemost...he's gone for two weeks. So, here I am on the first bright, hot day of summer feeling like gray clouds are hanging over my head...yeah, yeah, how schmaltzy...but hell, I miss him. Hope he enjoys the time with his family, though...sly guy, he made it a surprise visit, so they are going to be ecstatic! They haven't seen each other in over a year. So, my summer may not be off to a great start, but his is, and I'm happy for him.

It's not even offically summer yet, and we have had several days of 100 plus weather here. Just a few days ago, we hit 106 degrees...yikes. My guy and I have been gulping down iced water like two frat boys chugging on a Friday night... I should thank my lucky stars that it has "cooled" down to the 90s today...Believe it or not, you CAN feel the difference...
