I am thinking of you, Grandpa, on this Veteran’s Day

Grandpa, you served your country well during World War II. Even though you were from Mexico, you fought for this country as if it were always your own.You shared stories about your travels abroad and spoke of how you almost lost your hearing when a bullet whizzed by your ear during battle. You carried your love of music to the army by joining the Army band. You came back home to Grandma safe and sound and ready to meet your first son, who was born while you were away at war. You instilled in your family a patriotism and a love for your adopted country.

You did us proud, Grandpa...we owe our family’s sense of American pride All to YOU. The flag hung beautifully outside the house just for you today...Life has not been the same without you since you left us, you know. We miss you so much and we love you....Happy Veteran’s Day.
