private blogging..hmm. yeah , yup, it does make sense. I think a lot of people do it.

But sometimes I just need that privacy...that privacy that allows me to be 110% me....

That's what I have a diary for. Flagged "private" or not, I wouldn't transmit anything I didn't want anyone to see. You never know what could go wrong.


"Custom audience" is the closest I've gotten to "private blogging." For a while I had a "trusted bloggers" group for whom I would write articles I didn't care to share with the world in general. Then most of my "trusted bloggers" either left or got exiled. One got into a snit with me. By the time it was just about down to only kingbee and me, I pulled the plug. At that point I may as well just be emailing.

The only other use I've had for "private" articles is when I wanted something to have a specific date but wasn't finished with it. I've put up a place holder and made it public later. I've also done that with an occasional article I felt like "sneaking in." I've left them private till they've scrolled off the "most recent" list then made them public.

I have a large number of blogs that are for my eyes only. well the eyes of colleen too.

Usually, those that I mark private, I don't end up submitting and just let them flow off my back.

Not sure if you know what I mean. The audience I am mostly "speaking" to consists of regular Forum users...and it has me wondering which of us use the "private" option...

Yep, I kept a journal myself for many, many years...but I love the options that this site gives me...I can choose at the drop of a hat whether I want my writing private, semi-private, or publicized for the blogging world to see...

Same here...it's not regularly that I do it, but I am thinking I should take advantage of it more often.

I actually do have some unpublished blogs (unfinished ones, too) that I have in one of my desktop folders...they might just stay there permanently.

I keep a diary. I don't use the private blogging at all. I've only ever not put anything on the forum once I think. But most of my writing I do for others to read and get feed back on. It helps my thought process especially when there's something really bothering me.

I have never used it. If I want it to be private it will never hit the web, and likely will never hit any digital format. Easier to keep track of a physical copy.

I don't private blog, but there's a valuable possibility in private blogging that a lot of people don't consider.

If the blog service is dependable, you can store your writing on their server rather than your own hard drive, until you need it later. Their server is usually more secure than your own system.

It is a hassle as you have to create the group and maintain it, but it has its purpose.

Actually doing both is a good idea.  People use to laugh at me when I would save my programs (when I was one of those!) to a floppy to take home, the network, and my hard drive!

But I did not lose any.

Sometimes I write an article, post it, and then will make it private for personal reasons....

that doesn't happen too often though.

That's passed my mind, too...but besides fellow JUsers, my b/f and my sister, no other people know that I even blog on here, so it's not too much of a worry for me, at least not yet.
