Hope you enjoy my little bits of this and that. :) I can't promise they'll always be interesting. :)

Here is my writing challenge to all you talented word artists:

Bring an inanimate object to Life.

Have a conversation with a coffee cup, create a love story between a hoe and a hose, have the can of yams on aisle 9 go on a rant.  Have us guess at your object...OR...have it be very obvious.  Make it fun, make it sad, make it angry. It doesn't matter...as long as you make it interesting.

(I came up with this idea a few weeks back after an unsuccessful nap...)

We look forward to your creations.

Rose, what a great idea.  I will get to work and post it as soon as I'm done.

OK, I'll take a crack at it. Tell me what you think.

And there I was in the dark, unaware of where I was and feel cramped up in this little corner between others. All of a sudden a bright light blinds me as I am finally taken out of my spot and moved to a new location. Being the first one out I now find myself last in line having to wait for those in front of me to go first before it’s my turn to be chosen for my role.

Time moves on and very slowly those ahead of me begin to leave, but the process seems to be going too slow and I find myself wondering if my turn will come soon before my time is up. Eventually an announcement is made that calls attention to my location and soon those ahead of me started moving at a much faster rate. I was excited that my turn was coming up very soon but it would seem that my victory was premature and I suddenly found myself back at the end of the line when newcomers were placed in front of me replacing those that left before me. Leave it the geniuses who organized this event to ignore the rules and not provide “first come, first serve” service to those who were already waiting in line.

Here I am now wondering if I am ever gonna get outta here. It seems that dark corner I was in before was no different than my current situation and as those placed in front of me continue to move faster due to the announcement that was made and continues to be made, newcomers continue to replace them and I continue to be left behind unable to voice my concern that I don’t have much time left.

As time went by, I soon began to lose track of time and eventually became uncaring of my situation. I had grown accustomed to being ignored and did not worry or even remember that my time was already up. With only a couple more ahead of me, I sat there waiting to see who would again be put in front of me considering it seems to always be the same faces I see every time. When all of a sudden, those few who were still ahead were passed by and I was selected to be next to move on. It took my brain a few moments to realize my turn had finally arrived. But my excitement blinded me to the truth that was about to be revealed to me that would eventually leave me useless and empty inside. My long wait in line looking to fulfill my destiny was crushed when they realized that my time had already passed and that I was no longer worthy of completing my mission. So I was discarded like trash and left to wither away into nothing. The only thing I had left was the possibility of being reborn a new and given a second chance. But only time will tell.

What am I?

Hmmm...I'm still trying to figure out yours, Charles. I am sure someone will find out before me.

We are going to the woods this weekend. I hope I can get some quiet time in between bear wrestling, snake handling and washing clothes down at the crick...hahaha...If so, I will give it a shot. Good for you bringing JUWC back...I like the different challenges you get when different people put up prompts.

Hehe, and I actually made that up in about a half an hour. Let's just say it's a general thing, not something very, very specific. But pointing to something specific could get you the answer anyways.

Charles,

You wouldn't be a bottle of beer, would you?

Good idea. Now I hope I can come up with one for a decent story.

Dynamaso,

Well, guess it could be, if the bottle was on a shelf in a store like a can of soup, or a box of cereal. That's why I said it was something in general, not so much a single specific thing. The story is about how, lets say, a bottle of ketchup, for example, was the first one to be pulled out of the box and put on to the shelf of a supermarket and since it was first, it ends up last on the shelf. Every time the shelf began to empty, instead of moving the bottles from the back forward rotating the cans by date, the dumb employee would simply put the new bottles in front leaving the older bottles in the back. Because of this the bottle became expired and eventually dumped to the trash where it might eventually be recycled.

Good guess Dynamaso.

I'll give you some karma when I get home, doesn't work from my job just like the quote feature.

In short the life of a product from the moment it hits the shelves of a store till it's ignored, expired and then trashed possibly to be recycled.
