Hope you enjoy my little bits of this and that. :) I can't promise they'll always be interesting. :)

Give me a 5 Sentence Update on Your Life, fellow JoeUsers.   Why am I asking for 5 sentences? Well, I have been suffering from short attention span-itis lately, so 5 works for me...lol.

Here are mine:

I have been having some health troubles.  It might be GERD or gastritis...who the hell knows (might need to see a doc again).

I now have an elliptical trainer that's up and running!  The question now is if I will use it regularly.

I have a good class this year, but the stress of the standardized test has been getting to me (I need to slow down and relax a bit).

I also have been putting in extra hours at work, which has been adding a bit to the stress, but which will also be adding some extra income to our household.

I don't know what I would do without Chris...he's my stress relief, my comic relief, and so much more.

So, may I have an update on you?

I just finished a year of school for therapeutic massage and I am awaiting the national exam so I can be licensed.

After completion of a year of school I got so sick with something. My body said enough! I'm o.k. now

I like most people need to get back to some serious exercising.

I am ready for spring so I am not washing four hundred loads of laundry of winter clothes.

I have had a great weekend playing on JU while my husband and sons have been fishing.

I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel as I finish up my studies from LU.

I just got in from an 8 mile, very hilly, bike ride with my husband and my legs feel like jello.

I have a house to furnish but am tight on funds so it's taking me a while to get this done.

I love the first winter I've spent here in Florida.

We are having marinated grilled boneless pork strips for dinner and I can smell it cooking....yum!

  1. After getting dumped on by about 45cm of snow in the past 24hrs, I have shovelled out my driveway twice, and my father's driveway once today. I was going to go to the gym today, but knew that all that shovelling was equal to what I would have done on the stairmaster.  With aching arms, shoulders and sides, I had a two hour nap this afternoon as well.
  2. To counteract all that outdoor activity, I'm internetting while the kids watch Alvin and the Chipmunks and eating pizza.
  3. I have a job. It's not horrific, but its not great either. It pays the bills and I'm happy with the money, for now.  The plus is that I never take home work with me. Once my eight hour shift is over, everything is over. The minus is that it's never truly interesting, just sort of dreary.
  4. I wish I didn't like beer so much. It does nothing for my wallet or my stomach. But it sure is tasty. I'm becoming a bit of a connisseur actually. Kind of like a wine taster, I can tell a lot of things about the kind of beer I'm drinking. Useless knowledge, yes, but whatever.
  5. I hate people who wish they had a man or a woman in their lives, but I think I do need someone. My best friend is off travelling the world, as are a few other good friends who have left town, and now more than ever, I feel the urge to get outta here. With a pal, or off to meet new people, I don't know. But something's gotta happen.

I finally passed my kidney stone.

I only have a few more months of General Surgery, then it is Urology full time.

I am enjoying living vicariously through my brother as he enjoys himself in Spain.

We are trying (albeit somewhat unsuccessfully) to potty-train our youngest.

I am toying around with the idea of blogging regularly again.

1. I've been sick with a cold but am feeling a lot better now. It is weird, but I tend to get sick around the change of seasons, regardless of what the weather is doing.

2. Toni and I are planning to have a really big blast over Easter to say goodbye to our vices. We both want to get healthy and save more money for our overseas holiday.

3. Toni is about to chop all her hair off. This coming Thursday is 'Shave For A Cure' and she is getting it done. Friends of ours have a 6 year old boy who has leukaemia, so this is doubly important to her. Toni has been growing her hair for about 15 years now, an it is quite long. The change is going to be different, to say the least.

4. The band is going through a few changes. We've just found a new female vocalist who is working out very well. We're also planning to record an album mid-year sometime and are in the thick of pre-production for this. We're also planning on changing the band name, something to reflect all of us.

5. Finally, I've been reading a great comic series lately. It is called 'Rising Stars' and is written by J. Michael Straczynski, the same man who wrote 'Babylon Five'. It is an awesome series and I highly recommend it.

Best of luck with your studies, KFC. I think it's great that you go bike riding...I myself am not so great on a bike.   I am 100 percent sure your dinner was scrumptious, btw.

I'm curious what you think the best beer is out there... Sorry that many of your loved ones are not around.  I definitely hope a friendship or relationship flowers for you somewhere...it'll probably happen when you least expect it.

Yikes about the snow shoveling...I have no idea what its like to shovel and shovel tons of snow.  You definitely earned that nap.

I have said this a few times before, but I am envious of your brother!  He better bring me a souvenir when he gets back.   I hope your general surgery stint goes by real fast for ya, so that you can get to what you really want to do!

Best of luck on the potty training!

Yay on the passing stone! I've said this before, but I am envious of your brother. He better bring me back a souvenir from beautiful Espana!  I hope the General Surgery stint goes by fast for you so that you can get going on what you really want to do.

Best of luck on the potty training!

Mark, glad to hear you are doing better. Kudos to your wife for getting her hair cut for a good cause. :

I wish you continued success on your band, and hope that the new vocalist works out really well for all of you.   I look forward to buying and listening to your next CD.   I have never heard of the author or comic series that you mentioned.  Maybe I'll look into it.

Thanks Rose. We're working pretty hard on the new material too, which is taking us in a new direction, one I'm very excited about. If you have any suggestions for names, let me know.

'Babylon Five' is probably the best science fiction television series ever made. The writing on it was superb. If you like 'Heroes' you will very much enjoy 'Rising Stars'.

So not true. Firefly, man, Firefly. THEN Babylon 5.

1. I'm in Spain!

2. I'm studying Spanish literature (in Spain!)

3. I have a heck of an update about my relationship with Hillary I need to finish writing and post (and that's from Spain!)

4. I miss my family sometimes (because, you see, I'm in Spain . . . do you see a pattern here?)

5. I'm glad to see some of the JU regulars that have been MIA for a while making appearances once again.
on Mar 10, 2008
Firefly, absolutely! But the it has to be Farscape, THEN Babylon 5.

We can argue about what comes second after Firefly, but as long as we agree that Firefly is as good as it's gotten, we're good.

I loved the movie but was so mad when Wash died. Just wanted to kick JW in the hiney for that one.

I think we ALL felt that way, Mari.
