He got me Exactly what I wanted for Christmas. =)

My boyfriend and I exchanged Christmas gifts yesterday (we wanted to have a special day to ourselves away from family to enjoy this special time). Our gifts to each other included (for me): clothing, earrings, a crock pot, Sixteen Candles movie, and the original Willy Wonka movie...and (for him): Steelers pullover and emblem, James Patterson book, Reese’s peanut butter cups (his fave), face care lotions, and a DVD/CD shopping trip.
After we gleefully and oohed and aahed at each of them, my boyfriend surprised me by saying he had one more gift to give me. With a big smile on his face, he brought out a huge, shiny wrapped box from the family room and carried it into the living room.
I gave him a huge smile back because I knew immediately what it was...it was the gift I had on top of my Santa Wish List...the thing I had been wanting for a long time...A vacuum cleaner.
Now, not many women would consider a vacuum a great Christmas gift, but this woman does. See, we needed something more convenient than a broom and dustpan for our new place, so a few months ago, I ordered a stick vac I thought was the most awesome thing ever... but it broke down after a few uses and turned out to be a waste of money. Ever since then, my b/f and I had been scouring the store ads for a good bargain on a vacuum cleaner. We didn’t have much luck, though. Most of the vacuums we would see were too expensive for our budget. Then lo and behold, a few days ago, we see one on sale at Target...we almost ran to the back of the store where they were displayed--that’s how eager I was--but after looking around for awhile, there were none to be found...we had been beat to the punch by early bird shoppers.
Well, I kind of resigned myself to the fact that I’d be using the ‘ol broom and dustpan for at least a few weeks more, and thought maybe another bargain would come up some other time. Then my boyfriend brings out that shiny package, and gives me one of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten...and one of the best surprises I’ve ever gotten. I open it up, and there stands a pretty and brand new Dirt Devil vac ... I asked him how he managed to get the vac, and he said that the day after we had gone to Target, he went back again, and a whole new set of vacuums on sale had been put out. He even decided to get the vac the same color as our carpet (he thought it’d be nice that they matched). I gave him a huge hug and kiss...how very thoughtful of him to have done that for me.
I put it together last night and tried it out today; It works great, and the carpet has never looked spiffier! Thanks, honey...for making this girl happy with your special gift...I only hope my gifts brought you as much joy.

Isn't it funny how our priorities change. I never thought the day would come that I would be excited to get a vacuum cleaner but a few years ago after having a horrible, piece of crap that didn't suck I was so glad to get a good vacuum. I'm hard on them. My husband says I should be a vacuum tester since I have a great ability to destroy them.
Enjoy all of your gifts, lucky girl. (Look at the lines in the carpet, aren't they pretty?)

I would have done cartwheels if I'd found a new Oreck vaccum cleaner under my christmas tree!

I share your excitement ladies!! I too have been in search of the ultimate vacuum. Last year I finally found the best vacuum in the universe but I can't have it because it's way too expensive. Have you heard of the Dynamo? About $480- $500. And then there's the Dynamo Animal (especially for cleaning up after pets, about $550). Oh, wow, would I be in heaven if I could have either one of those.

I can dream, can't I? Of course I had to settle for less and bought a $200 Dirt Devil that already malfunctions. Hmmmph.
after having a horrible, piece of crap that didn't suck

LW~~I would have done cartwheels if I'd found a new Oreck vaccum cleaner under my christmas tree!~~
Oh, I was so happy when I saw mine...maybe it seems pretty silly to some people to love that as a Christmas gift, but I'd been wanting one for such a long time...it was a great Surprise to me.
~~Enjoy your new machine, I'm so jealous!~~
It's not a fancy schmancy one...but it is pretty good nevertheless.

LoL...yeah, my first vac turned out to be crappy as well. Either that, or, like you, I overworked it.
~~(Look at the lines in the carpet, aren't they pretty?)~~
Oh, they are very lovely...even forgot the carpet can be that shade of beige.

I took a look at the dynamo...impressive! Maybe one day I can afford one like that, but for now, the Dirt Devil is just fine for me.

Isn't it great getting older? It seems that what we want and what we need seem to become the same thing with every passing year.

True...very true...maybe next year I'll ask for a new refrigerator.
Actually, he also did get me things I didn't need at all...like some pretty, sparkly new stud and hoop earrings (how girly do I sound right now, huh?)

That's so cool! And it's exactly what you wanted so no need to hang him out to drive for giving you a vacuum!
! Sounds like you're gonna have fun using it.
