Hope you enjoy my little bits of this and that. :) I can't promise they'll always be interesting. :)
Ahhh....The first day of Autumn! Can you believe it? Time goes by so fast. It brings to mind cool temperatures, football, pumpkin scents, cider scents, favorite sweaters being brought out of the closet, beautiful fall foliage....It’s my second favorite season...

Only thing is, I can’t enjoy it to the fullest.

See, temperatures here are still in the 90s. Yes, the first day of autumn will greet us with a high of 93 degrees. Also, we don’t get very much fall foliage around here. We see the browns and yellows (and if we are lucky, maybe even slight tinges of orange...wow!) I feel sorry for my boyfriend. He is from up north, and is probably used to weather in the 70s by now. He is also used to seeing trees all over the place basking in their foliage glory....

So, I am asking for a favor to anyone who is the slightest bit interested. Please enjoy fall foliage for me! Jump in that pile of raked leaves, take pictures of those lovely reds and oranges and yellows ( it would be awesome if aspiring photogs around here would post ‘em.), enjoy those pleasant cool temps...enjoy it all to its fullest.

I wish I could.

Heh heh.....the high here today is supposed to be 103. The leaves might be red and yellow, but it's not because it's getting cooler.......

Same to you InBloom! I'm not sure what the high is here but right now we're at 83 Degrees! It's gotten just a little cool in our area because of Rita. And yes, 83 is cooler!

It's supposed to be in the 90's here today, but I can tell it's fall...it's getting dark earlier and the air in the mornings has that crisp quality to it.

I love fall; it's my favorite season. The earth is getting herself ready for bed...she's gone though the busy spring activity and the glorious summer blooms, and now she's relaxing and winding down.....getting ready to sleep through the winter.

I dug out my heavier shoes and am wearing a sweater today. We're expecting frost tonight. I've noticed some of the sumacs bursting out in their red blazes. I don't mind fall, I guess, but it's what it foretells that gets me depressed. A good six months of winter. *sigh* Such is life in Minnesota.

Fall if my favorite season as well. The crispness to the air, the brilliant colors exploding everywhere, the rustling of leaves, the scent of smoke from a woodstove off in the distance... I love everything about it!

Living in the heart of the White Mountains, I'm treated to foliage probably much like your bf is used to. I'll take some pictures for you once the colors finally "pop" here.

Gawd I hope we get some snow here this year, I truly miss it.

Aye, bite your tongue, LW! I hate the snow and seem to remember last winter having a bit too much of it. You can have it all--I wonder if we could find a way to make it fall just over Richmond?

First day of Fall in Hawaii:

(from my backyard)

I REALLY miss the changing of seasons. The main thing that distinguishes winter from summer here is rain. Meh.

It's 85 here today. Sunny and humid. Fall is my favorite season, next to summer. Winter has Christmas, though, so that bumps it up a couple notches.

Favorite things about fall:

County Fairs

Walks in the woods, taking in the colors and basking in the cool air.

Halloween Spook Houses (we always try to hit at least 2 a year)

Thanksgiving (Mmmmm....turkey..)

Yikes, 103? And I thought it was hot here. Keep cool, SPC.

Serenity, 83 sounds wonderful to me...to us, it's a cool temp. lol

Oh, I love it, too, dharma...it's a pretty season. I look foward to it.

~ i love fall, it's the prelude to MY favorite season...WINTER!~

Xtine and LW, I see both your points in loving/hating winter. Actually, Winter is my favorite season as well! It has more to do with the holidays that surround it, and the coziness of it rather than its weather...I hate being cold. But you know, we have mild winters around here (and rarely get a good amount of snow), so maybe that's another reason it doesn't bother me as much.

~I hate the snow and seem to remember last winter having a bit too much of it.~

wow, and we love when it snows around here...we jump for joy about it...lol. But then again we don't deal with it that much...

Angela, nice picture. I don't envy the raking, but I do envy the beauty of it! btw, you have a cute kid there.

Tex, you may not experience the change to fall, but hey, it's Hawaii, one of the most beautiful places on earth...even the picture of your backyard looks like a postcard. lol

HC, that sounds poetic!

I am such a wuss when it comes to spook houses. But I do enjoy Halloween...And Thanksgiving just as much.
