Maybe you've seen this video. It was shared with us during a professional training...just opens my eyes to how fast our world is changing, how much technology is impacting our world, and the urgent need to prepare our young ones for this type of future. Powerful.

I cant confirm the pace they set for technology, but I wont deny it. My job did not exist when I graduated from College. Indeed, my job did not exist until I was almost 30.

I knew about China and India and the population shift and of course the improvements in language etc.
I'm not surprise about the MySpace thing.
Don't even get me started about text messaging...my daughter and her friends can't live without this!
Thx for sharing though, interesting!

Wow, Doc. I am not taking every word for truth on this myself, but many of the facts, especially the ones about the fast pacedness of technology...are really interesting.

***That $1000 computer which exceeds the computation capacity of the human brain will still need to be built, programmed, and maintained by humans.
I think we'll be ok, Rose. Call me an optimist, but I think these facts are exciting rather than menacing. I also noticed several grammatical errors in this 'professional' training video, haha.***
Yeah, I noticed some of those, too...lol. The video actually wasn't part of our formal training, It was more like the trainer wanting to start off the morning with something interesting. I agree as well that these possibilities are pretty exciting...I think the thing that got me, though, was the education part of it, and how much we need catching up on with other countries.

The MySpace thing definitely didn't surprise me. As for the text messaging, I know several people like your daughter who cannot live without it...lol.

Technology is just a fad. Best to concentrate on the tried and true things that will always be with us like fire, the wheel, and carrier pigeon training.

Yeah....past lives as a chariot maker, a ship builder, a camel herder, and a fort designer taught me that much.
LOL!

In an article Trudy wrote, I mentioned how we need to have a balance between the modern and the very basics. I truly believe that...because although I find it fascinating how much technology has brought into our lives, I also feel it necessary to get away from this all and just enjoy the simple part of life.
and carrier pigeon training
This made me want my own pigeon carrier.

I am also a pigeon carrier maker. Where do I send the finished product?
