Hope you enjoy my little bits of this and that. :) I can't promise they'll always be interesting. :)

Word on the street is that Kinky Friedman is currently second to Rick Perry in the Texas gubernatorial race. Imagine that...off the wall Kinky Friedman. It looked for awhile there that NO one had second place, with neither Kinky, Chris Bell (D), or Carole Keeton Strayhorn (I) having a firm hold on that position.

Some of the stances/propositions/promises that have made Kinky popular: He will send 10,000 National Guard troops to the U.S-Mexico Border; He is pushing for a foreign taxpayer ID , and pushing for $50,000 fines for employers hiring immigrants. He also vows to do away with the infamous TAKS test. How is he going to accomplish all of this? Well, that's the thing...he has never made it clear how it will be done.

As for how I will vote in November, I have NO idea....None. I usually lean democratic, but haven't been impressed with the democratic candidate. As for Perry, I don't care for the way he has dealt with the Education reform here...or I should say, his lack of dealing with it.
I do like the fact that Strayhorn would like to make the TAKS test more of a diagnostic tool instead of an end of the year test...but even with her, I am not sure.

Ah well, Perry is probably a shoo-in, but hell, I am voting anyway.

Jesse Ventura is endorsing Kinky Friedman. He looks like some college punk off a week-long drunk in Matzatlan with those facial hair braids. Ugh.

That's one gubernatorial race I'm thankful I was too young to vote in.

I haven't seen Jesse in a while...wonder what he's up to now.

Kinky lost my vote by dismissing the Panhandle entirely, and by refusing to even acknowledge my existence as a candidate when I contacted his campaign. I would have just chocked it up to "big politics", but the Strayhorn campaign has met with an entirely different, and more cordial, response. My vote's going to "grandma".

Ah Vote Kinky!  At least the comics will have a field day with him if he gets it!

far as i know he's succeeded at just about everything else he's attempted. if he could get willie and lyle lovett to sign on as advisors, i might could possibly be persuaded to think on reconsidering my policy regarding never, ever again settin foot inside texas of my own free will.

i've admired friedman for a long damn time for a number of reasons. i was seriously dismayed when you first informed us about the snub and his apparent lack of interest in your part of the state and i still find it very troubling. that--as well as everything i've come to know about strayhorn--have convinced me she's your best choice.

She's the one I have considered the most out of all the candidates

Yikes...would a free pair of cowboy boots and a stetson convince you to come visit us?
(now how's that for promoting the texas stereotype...shame on me. )
