Hope you enjoy my little bits of this and that. :) I can't promise they'll always be interesting. :)

My boyfriend’s longtime favorite team is vying for the Super Bowl trophy tomorrow, and since it’s going to be extra special for him, we decided to make a small bowl celebration of our very own--opting not to go to go out to any pigskin parties. On the menu we have: Chili, potato salad, (which he will make), mini sausages, deviled eggs, sandwiches, and Steelers Brownies (just a little something I wanted to make in honor of his team). We hope to enjoy the game, enjoy the commercials, an...

Dunno if this test had been done here before...found it while surfing, and it sounded like fun. Here are my results: Which Muppets Character matches your personality? Swedish Chef! You scored 55 Mood and 74 Energy! You are happy and energetic. People just love being around you and your infectious energy. You're good at entertaining people without even trying, and you make a mean lutefiske. My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people...

Very interesteing Quiz that interprets your thoughts on Life and the World...thought I'd share it. You scored as Idealist . Idealism centers around the belief that we are moving towards something greater. An odd mix of evolutionist and spiritualist, you see the divine within ourselves, waiting to emerge over time. Many religious traditions express how the divine spirit lost its identity, thus creating our world of turmoil, but in time it will find itself and all things will again b...

Recently at our school’s Professional Development Training, some teachers were recognized for their years of service to our school district. Some received 30 year and 25 year pins, or 5, 10, and 15 year certificates. I was honored with completing Five years of Teaching (as of May of this year). Five years already...wow...I am no longer a rookie, but a bona fide, experienced teacher. Doesn’t seem that long since I graduated from the university. This gets me to think back on many things:...

Candy corn is one of the best things that comes out of Halloween...I love it...well, at least for the most part (after so many pieces, I do get a mild sugar overdose). To my surprise, I had trouble finding it this season. Spooky eye gumballs, Halloween snickers and M&Ms, Crazy flavor Blow Pops...yes, all those were aplenty and all over...but my nice little cone shaped candy corns, no... Well, as I hung around Walgreens after dropping off a prescription, I stopped at the Halloween clear...

~~Dr. Howard Gardner came up with his Theory of Multiple Intelligence stating that knowledge and abilities can be sorted out into the eight different intelligences. Each person is at a different level on each one. Which one is your strongest?~~CpnDuke (Quiz creator) Multiple Intelligences is one of the subjects I had to study while getting my education degree, and it is something that we continue to study during professional development courses. I thought it'd be cool to see what everyon...

My 100th Article...It’s Not about Me, though This is about my aunt Irma. Our family found out this past week that she is HIV positive. Irma is 50-ish years old. She is fun spirited and loves to joke around with her sisters. She loves music and dancing and enjoys spending time with her only grandchild, a vivacious two-year old girl. Irma is not just an aunt I see at holiday functions, parties, etc. We actually lived under the same roof for several years, and needless to say, I am clos...

I sit here and sometimes shake my head at all the heated discussions on JoeUser. I have seen how good ‘ol differences of opinion have turned into “I am better than/smarter than/ more important than-you” spewing matches. I have seen hurt feelings and broken friendships. I have seen battles that to this day have not ended. Sometimes I find it funny... sometimes I find it sad. I wonder how much better we might get along if we saw a different side of each other. I think too many times ...

I have finally memorized my students’ names....all 106 of ‘em. This year, instead of teaching all subjects to one class, I am teaching one subject to all classes. In order to meet our state, district, and school objectives, our grade level departmentalized and I became the Math Teacher. I have to admit it has its downsides: there are hundreds of papers to grade, the schedule is fast paced, and the time we have with them (1 hour 15 min for each of the four classes) never seems to be eno...

My boyfriend told me not too long ago that I am the Queen of overstating the obvious. He laughs and says he can’t believe some of the things that come out of my mouth. For example, we were at a restaurant once and he was downing bourbon street chicken. I say, “Do you like it?”, and he sarcastically says, “No, I hate the stuff. I hate it so much, I’m scarfing it down.” (What a smart a**)... Here are some other doozies: “Are you sleepy?” (when someone is yawning). “Is this your b...

This is the "Winter" craft I have chosen for my students to do for their parents/guardians this year (we'll be doing it on Monday): I have modified some of the steps and materials, such as substituting polyester batting with cotton balls, adding mini ornaments (such as little gift boxes, candy canes, and gingerbread men) and opting not to use a mirror as a base. Besides making a winter scene in the cup, they will also be gluing a school picture of themselves in the middle. It...

What Signs of the Times do you see out there in our World? With Technology advancing with every blink of the eye, there are probably so many. The idea for this article first came to my mind a few months ago, when I had to administer a standardized test to my students. Beginning this year, and in accordance with a new state school law, we were required to have students sign a form saying that they had “no media devices on their person” so as not to cheat. It just struck me how weird...

I am a distant person....trauma and other very personal matters have molded me this way...I have trouble getting close to anyone...I am not necessarily cold, but it does take a lot for a person to become a confidante of mine. I can count the people I consider very close to me on one hand. Hugs, kisses, affection and verbal expressions don’t come easy for me. It feels very artificial to act familial with people whom I don’t know very well. Even online, I feel like I have to know a person for...

I compiled a list of songs that are close to my heart for various reasons...some make me smile or cry , some make my heart soar or make it break all over again...some inspire, some make me comtemplate....some make me...Well, you get the point....lol. They span generations...so you’ll find different genres and decades in here.... Some of them are corny...I am aware of that....lol...but I love 'em anyway.... And, oh...this is a work in progess.I still have more to add....Add your faves...
