Hope you enjoy my little bits of this and that. :) I can't promise they'll always be interesting. :)

Honestly, I didn't think I'd be watching the Olympics as much as I have been.  I thought, Okay, I'll watch women's gymnastics, but that's it.  But lo and behold, I have also been watching swimming, diving, a bit of beach volleyball, and track as well (dang it, I have yet to see the Men's basketball team play).

So, okay, me watching swimming shouldn't be so hard to believe since Michael Phelps was putting on the most awesome performances ever.  However, I am surprising myself at how much I am getting into these sports events.  I'll be the first to let ya know that I am not the most athletic person in the world, and am only mildly interested in sports. Hmmmm...Chris must be influencing me...the guy is such a huge sports fan.

So, these past few weeks, I have been

cheering on Michael,

booing the French guy who talked smack about our relay team,

awwwing at how cute Shawn Johnson is,

looking on with pride at Nastia Liukin,

shaking my head at the possibly underaged Chinese gymnasts (well, I'll also admit I have been wowed by their athletic ability),

longing to have Misty May and Kerri Walsh's abs,

hoping I will look like Dara Torres when I am 41,

getting teary eyed along with  those athletes who lost a heartbreaking race (American athletes as well as athletes from other countries),

getting misty eyed along with those athletes who have stood proudly at a medal podium,

cracking up at some of Bob Costa's conversations with Bela Caroli,

and

wishing I could fly a kite and hug a panda in China (well, this has nothing to do with the competitions, but I thought I'd mention it)

I guess my watching the Olympics has more to do with pride and getting to see people of all walks of life than with me wanting to watch athletic prowess.  I am glad I have taken the opportunity to enjoy these games.

(This is a quick rambling, so apologies for any grammar and spelling mistakes.  Also, I don't know why the heck I am doing this right now.  I have to get up at 6 a.m...lol).

I have not really had time to stay on top of the Olympic this year.  I read the headlines and so know about Phelps, but other than that and the "Redeem Team", I have not heard much.

I've found it to be pretty cool...I didn't expect to get into them very much.  In fact, I am surprised a good amount of people I know have gotten into the games. While talking to my colleagues at lunch yesterday, I found out that ALL of them had been watching too.  We had a pretty animated conversation about it.

My Olympic fever boiled over watching that Paraguayan javelin thrower. Oh yeah.

I have not watched much at all, save for a little bit of the BMX competition.  Most of the events hold little or no interest to me, save for the location.  I would love to go to Beijing one day.

You must've watched her for just one second because she didn't do very well...

Chris would love to go there one day, too. Maybe someday I won't be so afraid of international travel.
