Hope you enjoy my little bits of this and that. :) I can't promise they'll always be interesting. :)

~~ I used to swear by Caress beauty bars...then I got hooked on Dove. Now, all I do is buy Bodywash. I've tried everything from Aloe, to Cucumber Melon to Lime Verbana, to Lavender Chamomile (sp?). Just wondering if anyone out there still lathers up with a bar.

~~Christmas went by so fast. I feel like I didn't even have time to enjoy it. It was nice overall...but you know, I really do want some more Christmas. Maybe part of the reason my holiday is rushing by so fast is that I was horribly sick for almost two weeks prior to Christmas day. I am actually just getting over the bad cold/cough...unfortunately for my sweetie, he has it now (but he seems to be doing a bit better).

~~I couldn't sleep the other night, so I stayed up baking Banana Nut Bread at almost midnight.

Photobucket

This was bread I was supposed to make for Christmas but didn't have the motivation to do so.

~~I enjoy solitude. I am at this moment enjoying being by myself at home. I do enjoy being around ppl...but only for so long. After a while, I do crave peace and quiet , or just being around my sweetie. I have to admit that this part of my personality makes me feel freakish once in a while. Now and then, the longing to be a social person grows inside of me. However, I really do also embrace this about me. Hmmm...maybe I need to find a nice balance. I could still enjoy my solitude, yet open myself up more to ppl. It would be hard for me, though.

~~Apologies for not being around enough to respond to some of your articles and stories. I know that I've missed alot around here. I don't want to make promises or resolutins, but maybe I can get myself to write AND read more...and even more important than that, to respond so that you know I'm still enjoying your blogs.

Just to address your main question...a story - hopefully not too rambly.

When I was a kid, there was this Zest commercial. And what Zest was claiming was that it didn't leave soap film. The way they demonstrated this was to rub a finger across skin cleaned with "some other soap" and pointed out the fact that it wasn't slick. Well even as a kid I knew that clean skin wasn't slick...in fact, it's the opposite. If your skin is slick after washing it, it's because there is some film there. Silly, I know, but it made me angry. It was my first experience with advertising (aka lying).

Now I use body wash - and dammit...my skin is slick after it. I can't seem to wash the damn stuff off, so I'll often follow with what I recommend to everyone; good ole Ivory soap. It totally dries your skin out, but that's what lotion was created for.

In short, use that lovely smelling body wash, folks, but if you want to be REALLY clean, it's Ivory all the way.

How the heck did I double post that? Please delete this one.

Hi Rose, I miss 'seeing' you around! I hear ya about the solitude thing, it's not all bad most of the time! I do still use soap, in fact, both soap and body wash depending on my mood! If I want a stronger perfumy scent I go with the body wash and no perfume! It helps to follow with a scented lotion as well.

Hope you and Chris are fine. Glad you're getting over that cold, Amanda has one she's hopefully over soon too! I'm off to bed now, tired but wanted to say hiya before I forgot!

Yes, I use soap.  I dont feel clean using the other stuff.

So when are you opening up the JU Banana Bread shop?

on Dec 31, 2007
Hey Rose,

I use soap and Toni uses body wash. Like Doc, I just don't feel clean using body wash.

Isn't it funny how Christmas Day, once arrived, flashes by but the time prior to seems to drag on. I think there is a Law of Expectation or some such to explain this phenomena. But being sick leading up to the day is not a fun thing. I hope you are feeling better and Chris is on the mend too.

There was so much cooking going on in our house over the Christmas period; turkey and gravlax (a salmon dish), cookies (snickerdoodles), christmas cakes, plum pudding, cinnamon rolls, biscuits and lots of bbqing. I love this time of year because we shop once and then spend two weeks eating left overs. Your banana nut bread looks delicious. Would you mind sharing the recipe with me?

Hope you and Chris have a wonderful New Year's eve and a fantastic 2008.

Happy New Year Rose!

I hope you and Chris are feeling well soon. The banana bread looks yummy. I can almost smell it.

As for the soap issue, I use both.
Good to see you around.

Razor, this reminds me of something my kid sister went through...lol. When she was around 8 or so, she bugged my mom to get her confetti Chips Ahoy Cookies. When sis finally did get them, she tore them open and took a bite. She waited a moment, then disappointingly exclaimed, "Hey....there's not a party in every bite!." I guess she thought she was going to start dancing like the kids in the commercial. That was her first experience with false advertising...lol.

Remember this little thing?

Oh I wish I were a little bar of soap,
Bar of soap
Oh I wish I were a little bar of soap,
Bar of soap
For I'd slippy and I'd slidy
Over everybody's hidey
Oh I wish I were a little bar of soap...

Something about that song always kinda weirded me out.

Hiya Donna. Thanks for stopping by to say Hi. I actually got some scented lotions for Christmas...I'm not big on using those, but I actually tried some today, and it smells pretty nice (it's a pomegranate/freesia/cucumber medley...weird, eh...lol). So sorry to hear that your little girl is sick. I hope she gets better very, very soon!!

LW
Dial Antibacterial here...plus lots of Aveeno for moisture afterwards.I save the smelly stuff for bubble baths.

Hiya LW. I should buy Aveeno, since I do get very dry skin. Sigh...a bubble bath sounds so good. I haven't taken one in such a long time.

Hiya, Doc! I think I am pretty much being proven wrong in thinking hardly anyone uses soap anymore...lol. As for a Banana bread shop, I'll open one up if others join in with their goodies, too....then we will just make it a JU Sweets Shop.

Wow, Mark, your Christmas sounds wonderful! Gosh, maybe we should have joined you. Yes, it did suck that we were both sick for the holidays, but ah well. I'm just glad he's getting better, and that I'm almost recovering.

As for the Banana bread recipe, I had help from Betty Crocker, so it's not homemade...lol. The only thing I added to the mix was extra walnuts, mashed up banana, and some banana cream pudding to make it extra moist.

I'll make a request for you and I here, though. If anyone has a homemade banana bread recipe, please share it with us.

Our New Year's Eve was really nice, thanks! We went out for dinner (Italian), ordered dessert to go, listened to some music at home, and watched the ball drop. Here is wishing you and Toni a Wonderful New Year!

Hiya, Kelly!

Thanks for asking about Chris and I. We are both feeling better, thanks! Maybe I should join some of you in using both soap and bodywash...lol. Maybe I'll pick up a Dove bar next time I go shopping. Hope you and your family had a Wonderful Holiday.

Hiya, Roy! I'm actually singing along to it now...lol. Now that I pay attention to the lyrics, it does sound a bit perverted...lol.

Rose,

Pleased to hear you're both on the mend now. My NYE was spent with friends while Toni worked overnights. It was her turn this year, unfortunately.

As for the banana bread, thanks for putting up the request. I hope we get some responses.

Reply By: little-whipPosted: Sunday, January 06, 20081 cup butter or margarine2 cups sugar4 eggs1/4 teaspoon salt2 teaspoons baking soda 4 cups flour6 large bananas, very ripe, mashed (nanas should be black and gooey, almost liquid)1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnutsCream together butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture. Stir in bananas and chopped pecans. Pour banana nut bread batter into 2 well-greased loaf pans; bake at 325° for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. It don't need icing, lol.

Woohoo...sounds pretty yummy. Thanks on behalf of myself and Dynamaso.
