BK Commercials Revisited
Published on April 1, 2006 By InBloom In Entertainment
About a year ago, I wrote a blog about a weird commercial that BK had made (the one featuring Darius Rucker). It was so psychedelic and made even stranger by the creepy Burger King guy himself. Just when I had convinced myself that those commercials (starring the Burger King) were the weirdest I have ever seen, along comes BK's Big Bucking Chicken....

Have you seen this crazy thing on TV? The scenario is a mini rodeo featuring a huge chicken (or chickens) being ridden by a ummm...not a bullrider, but a chicken rider, I guess. They also have a small cowboy-hat-wearing audience looking on. And all the while , the Big Bucking Chicken Song is being sung in the background. It has a slow, tender melody to it (just makes it all the weirder). These are the lyrics:

Big Bucking Chicken
You Are BIg,
You Are Chicken
Big Bucking Chicken...

As absurd as I think the ad is, I actually find myself singing along to the song...maybe I'm just a wacked out as those people who create this stuff (it would actually be interesting to meet the people behind these commercials...just to see what their mindsets are like).

Oh, and I am aware that this a stupid thing to write about, but I have too much serious crap going on in my life lately.... this meaningless, irrelevant fluff hits the spot for me just fine.

I was WAITING for someone to blog about it!!! I love this commercial. I don't know why. It makes me laugh out loud everytime. I'm tempted to record it....

Dont you hate the stupid things that you actually like?  We all have them.  Most of us, Like Charles Emmerson Winchester III. dont air them.  You are a braver man than I Gunga Din (and I see Udigit's influence coming through on the comedic side!)

Oh, I can't even begin to tell you how much his zany sense of humor has influenced me. I will just say that it definitely has! And it's so funny how he always makes sure to inform me when this commercial is on, no matter where I am in the house.

I've been thinking on this commercial for a while. I think they are really trying to say "Big F**king Chicken". Like, "Man, that's a Big F**king Chicken, huh?"

I might be off base, but I can't sing that song in my head without saying it, though it might be my propensity for profanity. I can just imagine a meeting where such was suggested, shot down, and then they decide to say a word that sounds like it.

I mean, which is more plausible, someone saying "Big F**cking Chicken"... or someone imagining cowboys riding huge chickens in a rodeo? It seems more logical if you work backwards from the profanity theory.

... and this friends, this super human ability to pick apart popular culture, ponder it's nuances, delve into its sources...

...this is why I don't have time to accomplish anything in life...

It reminds me of that movie Young Guns when they took the peyote and the one guy said to his horse “hey dog did you see the size of that chicken”.

The other day I was playing poker with my buds and started singing that song right after my friend folded, then I showed the 2-5 while on the last verse.

I've thought the same thing. And it's catchy. I get it in my head and it stays all day.

I, too, thought the same thing. I'm sure there's lots of people who order it that way going through the drive-thru.

What a funny line. I might have to steal that move.

As you know when I get a song in my head I usually spend all week singing it. I'm just surprised you haven't told me to shut my Big Bucking Mouth.

This article got me to singing it all day...

Now the kids are singing Big Bucking Chicken.

Nice.

the tv is on here 24/7 but it faces away from me. it's much more like an oversize radio unless i make a point of placing myself in front of it (and even then i may not actually watch what's going on).

like bakerstreet, mz w & udigit, i transposed the 'b' to 'f' (something i've done with lyrics and jingles for such a regrettably long time, it's now automatic).

i gotta tell yall whatta shock it was to see the video for the first time. at least til i realized it was a big chicken buckin a cowboy rather than a cowboy...well, if i gotta draw a picture, you prolly aint gonna get it anyway.

When I heard it the first few times, I thought, 'Man, people could easily just say the F word instead.' And as I see here, many probably are!

I know what part you're talking about. I always remember the line, "We're in the spirit world, a**hole, they can't see us." Hilarious.

Well, I never tell you to shut up because I actually LIKE hearing you sing it. Hey, I just heard you do it a few minutes ago.

I think I got it even without the picture.

It's not "hey dog" - he says "hey DOC" - the name of kiefer sutherland's character.
